Who are you? What do you do?

My name is Laura Winkler and I am Head of Communication at VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.

YOU'RE A MOTTO FRIEND, WHAT CONNECTS YOU WITH US?

Through my work at VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the largest curated design festival in German-speaking countries, I had a connection with the hotel from the very beginning. We met during the renovation to discuss our collaboration. Design played a key role in the renovation.

WHAT INSIDER TIPS FOR VIENNA DO YOU HAVE FOR OUR HOTEL MOTTO GUESTS?

VIENNA DESIGN WEEK in the fall, of course! Free admission this year from September 26th to October 5th with around 200 events and 50 locations. More at viennadesignweek.at or on Instagram.

And if it's not VIENNA DESIGN WEEK:

  • Meshit on Westbahnstraße. A concept store run by two Viennese women with their own line – super cool & underground!
  • The classic on Kärntnerstraße: LOBMEYR. Just walk in and be enchanted.
  • Design in Gesellschaft – a young design collective in the 20th district. Visits by appointment.
  • Restaurant Salzamt – architecture by Hermann Czech, sensational cuisine!
  • The Indie in the 1st district – one of the most beautiful shops since the 1970s.
  • Locals' top tip: If the weather's nice, take an electric boat ride on the Alte Donau with a roll from Trzesniewski and a bottle of sparkling water, for example, at Marina Hofbauer or Kukla.
